Airworks India Engineering Pvt. Ltd.
Airworks India engineering Pvt Ltd., established in 1951, is the largest Private Aircraft Maintenance Organization in the Country. Headquartered at Mumbai International Airport, it has a hangar facility of 50,000 Sq. Mtrs., Airworks established bases at Delhi, Chennai, Pune and Ahmedabad. Over the years, Airworks has built and developed capabilities and is authorized by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to maintain 30 different types of Aircraft including Helicopters. Airworks are also in possession of a Non-Schedule Operators permit for Air Charter activity and is currently managing one of its customer’s aircraft for the same. Its list our customers include all the top Corporate Groups in the country and State and Central Government Agencies. By virtue of its Engineering competence and maintenance infrastructure, Airworks have introduced many new types of Aircraft into the country and have successfully maintained the same. Airworks is also the first Customer Services Facility of Bell Helicopters in India, approved for field maintenance of the following Bell Helicopters:-



1) 206 Series

2) 206 L Series

3) 222, 230, 407 and 412.



In addition to its regular maintenance activities, Airworks have undertaken modifications on its Dakota DC-3’s for use by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA), Indian Institue of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), and Armed Forces Supply Dropping. Airworks operated two DC-4 Sky master aircraft for the carriage of perishables and live stocks for many years to the Middle East.



In 1992, an Airline Division was established and the entire maintenance for M/s Jet Airways (India) Pvt. Ltd. was created for its Boeing 737 Series aircraft. The infrastructure embodied all inspections including Transit Inspection at various outstations upto and including ‘C’ Checks. The Wheel Overhaul Shop of Airworks, has undertaken over 5000 main wheel and nose wheel overhauls for M/s Jet Airways (India) Pvt Ltd. Airworks also assisted









number of other Airlines and organizations in their start-up. Some of the organizations are listed:-

2) Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltds (Assembly of 27 Dauphin 365N Helicopters)

3) United Heli Charters.

4) Azal India

5) Aero Club of India. (Assembly of 27 Cessna 152’s for distribution to various Flying Clubs)



Airworks have also undertaken ‘C’ Checks and corrosion prevention and protection Inspection on Boeing 707 Aircraft belonging to the Government of India. These Checks also included replacement of outer wing spars due to corrosion, which was done in conjunction with M/s Air India. Airworks are also maintaining two Dornier aircraft for Airport Authority of India (AAI) for calibration of the various Air Field equipments.



At its facilities located at Mumbai International Airport, there are full-fledeged Avionics, Electricals, Non Destructive Test, Wheel Assembly and Overhaul shops, which are DGCA approved, as also managing inventory for customers’ spares in a Bonded Store ( approved by DGCA).



The total staff strength of 427 comprises of 50 licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, specifically licensed to maintain and certify 30 different types of aircraft being maintained. These Engineers are licensed in the categories of Airframe, Engines, Electricals, Instruments and Radio. Most of these Engineers have undergone training on specific aircraft types and equipments at a Manufacturer’s approved facility. There is a full-fledged Quality Control and Quality Assurance set-up aided by a Quality Control Manager and Quality Assurance Manager. The Quality Assurance Department undertakes frequent audit inspections and is independent of the Quality Control Manager and reports to the Director of the Company. The Directors of Airworks are both Pilots and Engineers themselves with approximately 30 years of aviation experience each. Airworks is a fully privately owned company without any liabilities, loans whatsoever.







Airworks is in the process of applying for additional hangar space to cater to the growing requirements of the Aviation industry and intend to establish Major Maintenance facilities in the near future, for boeing 737 series aircraft and Airbus A 320 aircraft.
